Max Begins His Soccer Career

Today was the first soccer practice. We weren't sure if it would happen because they had been forecasting down pours of rain. As you can see from the pictures there was a lack of water. We are thankful for the lack of rain because there are only 3 practices before the games begin.

Max didn't really seem all that interested in playing after we signed him up in July. I was beginning to be concerned it would be waste of our time. However, after Brain started working with him this week his interest in playing also increased. Max actually did a good job of controlling the ball. He was running, kicking, and trying to make a goal. He also did a good job of listening to his coach. That is actually one of the most entertaining parts of day. During the practice they would do activities for roughly 15 minutes and then take a drink break. (It was humid and hot today) Max would come running over and say "the coach says to get a drink and then come back to the field. " The funny part of that is Brian (dad) is the coach. For the last week we have tried to explain to Max that his dad would be his coach and yet he still said I have to see what the coach says about that. With all that said, We survived the first soccer practice and looking forward to next Saturday.

The Other Side!

Max has been in school roughly 2 weeks. All in all he enjoys school. Max will get off the bus say hello to Mason and me, and then I ask him about his day. I always get good, I say what was your favorite part: Max says, all of it. This type of dialogue continues in the house. However, Max will tell Brian later in the evening that he has been shoved/hit by another boy in his class. We also ask about what happened. We get very little information from him. Now as a parent I am getting frustrated with Max for not telling me earlier, but also has to why my child is being hit by another student. I have contolmyself from going to the school because I know the teacher is fully aware of what is happening. This is the other side of me remembering what it is like being the teacher and dealing with a student that hits.

However, last night Brian and I learned from Max that he was punched in the face during his school day. I am frustrated again because it is 7:45 pm and there is nothing I could do at that time. I decided to email his teacher and try to express my concern and find out what is being done with the student that is hitting. Max says he is not the only student being hit and his teacher is putting him in time out.

I am trying to be patient because I know how the school system works especially with this age group. But I am also a mom and having my child hit by someone else is not acceptable. With that said Max's teacher emailed back immediately and explained the situation the best she could. I know that every child deserves to be educated, but my child deserves that as well in safe environment. We hope to have more answers soon as the school is trying to come up with a plan for this student with the hitting problem. Hopefully, this will be resolved soon.

I am a lucky lady!

I attended a baby shower not long ago and I quickly realized how lucky I really am. There were several ladies there that currently have children or are expecting and they are not able to stay at home withtheir children. My husband, Brian, was not sure how we could live on his salary alone, but now he would not have it any other way. Our family has benefited in so many ways, just by making some easy sacrifices. I absolutely love being home with Max and Mason. They make me smile, laugh, and yes at times want to pull my hair out. I love my life as a stay at home mom! I love my husband more each day because he works very hard for us to have me home with our kids. So as you can see I am a lucky lady!
